Earlier this month we were asked to take in a 4 year old male that was losing his home because he didn't get along with his housemate. Today we met him and learned not only was he an amazing dog -- his next destination was most likely the shelter. So, despite being more than full...we had to help this handsome, sweet boy. Please welcome REX to the RESCUE!!! We will get to know Rex better, and will be seeking suitable foster for him. Preferably one with older or no children and possibly a female dog as a companion. No other dogs would be ideal. Please contact us if you can help Rex by opening your home as a foster. ***** Adoption Fee: $350 ***** NOTE to those viewing this profile on Petfinder.com: Visit our website for more information about our policies. This week we were contacted by the family of one of our dogs, Danny. Danny came to us from a high kill shelter in 2014 and was adopted shortly after arriving. Unfortunately Danny's family can no longer care for him due to medical reasons. Although we are saddened by this outcome, as he was TRULY loved, at Serendipity we always stand behind our dogs and he will land safely with us. Danny will be coming back to the rescue this coming week, and we'll spend some time getting to know him again so we can find him the FURever home he deserves. ***** Adoption Fee: $350 ***** NOTE to those viewing this profile on Petfinder.com: Visit our website for more information about our policies. This scared boy was marked rescue only at the shelter. He came in with another dog, a female, and she was tagged by another group. Shut down and scared things were not looking good for him and the shelter was reaching out for help. We are full to the brim but today went to meet him. He must have known we were coming because today he was happy and the only thing he wanted was to play ball. 🙂 His new life is about to begin, and his new name is Hans. Trust me, if you're a GSD person this boy is a WOW dog. ***** Adoption Fee: $350 ($400 for 9 months and younger) ***** NOTE to those viewing this profile on Petfinder.com: Visit our website for more information about our policies. Nikolai is a smaller sized GSD/GSD-mix who was found as a stray in Illinois. Nikolai currently is working on his social skills with other dogs, and may ultimately need to be an only dog. He is definitely a no for cats or small critters. Nikolai tends to prefer women over men and is still settling in after living what we think may have been a rough life on the streets. He is also currently HW positive. Nik can be a very sweet boy when he knows you and trusts you and we are still in the process of letting him settle. We'd like to find a quiet home (foster or foster to adopt) that has large dog/GSD experience and no other pets so that we can get his heart worm treatment started and fine tune some of his training issues. He has made HUGE progress on his leash skills and basic commands since arriving to rescue. A woman only home would be ideal for Nik! ***** Adoption Fee: $350 ***** NOTE to those viewing this profile on Petfinder.com: Visit our website for more information about our policies. Sherman is a sweet and wonderful senior boy who was found as a stray roaming the streets. Very neglected when we brought him in, he has started to enjoy the "good life" and likes it! He is regrowing hair he lost due to fleas, and has had a recent pawdicure to shorten some very long nails! He loves people, LOVES to play ball, and seems to like other dogs -- not too sure about cats though! We believe Sherman is about 10 years old and he's recently been vetted and appears to be in good health for his age. If you'd like to give Sherman a place to call home for the rest of his life please contact us!! ***** Adoption Fee: $250 ***** NOTE to those viewing this profile on Petfinder.com: Visit our website for more information about our policies. Duke is a 10 month old hound mix who was found dumped in rural Louisiana along with his sister Duchess in July of 2016. Duke and Duchess joined Serendipity's pack in August. Shortly after their arrival Duke's foster family noticed he wasn't thriving quite like his sister. After several vet visits we discovered that Duke had some development issues, including hip dysplasia and shoulder issues. All treatable, but surgery would be required Fast forward to today, Duke has had successful OCD surgery (January 2017) and has recovered WONDERFULLY from that. He no longer has shoulder pain and has full range of motion. He'll be having femoral head ostectomy in March to address his left hip joint, which is currently out of socket, and we're hoping that this will be Duke's final surgery and he will be ready to roll!! He already thinks he is! Throughout all of Duke's surgeries and procedures he has been a dream! Such a sweet boy, all Duke wants to do is run and play with his foster siblings. He loves to walk with them and can't wait for unrestricted activities! Duke is a sweet boy, just over 50 lbs, good with all other animals (dogs, cats, you name it) and super sweet with people. Duke is potty trained and does great in a home environment although he is a talker and LOVES to express himself.
